HISTORY

The first edition, free of charge, took place on August 20, 2006 under the name Viveiro Summer Fest thanks to the support and funding from the local government. Two days after its celebration, the headliner of that edition, Sick Of It All, had to cancel its performance by a sudden illness of one of its members. Despite the lack of support for this unforeseen event, it was postponed to November of that same year, calling itself Resurrection Fest and became a success for the public, and since then it has increased its duration to three days since 2010, number of performances up to 69 in 2013, and each year the record of attendees is beaten to reach 54 572 in 2015, mostly from throughout Spain and in many other countries such as Portugal and France.

Resurrection Fest

The Resurrection Fest is a music festival that takes place in the town of Viveiro, in the Parish of Celeiro, in the province of Lugo, Spain. This festival, also popularly known in Spain as El Resu, has been held annually since 2006 during the summer, with a musical program focused on the metal, punk and hardcore scene. Since its birth, it has managed to become one of the most popular festivals in Spain in its genre due to its specialization in extreme music.
Throughout its history, it has received more than 300 bands and groups of great level and international fame such as Iron Maiden, Korn, Motörhead, Kiss, Scorpions, Rammstein, In Flames, Black Label Society, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse , NOFX, Lamb Of God, Refused, Testament, Five Finger Death Punch, Trivium, Down, Sick of it All, Bad Religion, Volbeat, Bullet for My Valentine, Heaven Shall Burn, Pennywise, Hatebreed, At the Gates, Dead Kennedys, Exodus, or Black Flag, among many others.
